Nancy Hamilton Alfaro, known professionally as Nancy Ames, was born on September 30, 1937, in Washington D.C. She is an American folk singer and songwriter. Ames began her music career with the release of her first single "Bonsoir Cher" / "Cu Cu Rru Cu Cu Paloma" under Liberty Records. Her breakthrough came when she appeared on nine episodes of That Was the Week That Was in 1964, where she sang the show theme and special material, earning her the nickname "The TW3 Girl." Ames released several albums including The Incredible Nancy Ames, I Never Will Marry, and A Portrait Of Nancy. She achieved chart success with "He Wore The Green Beret" and "War Is a Card Game", both released in 1966. Ames also appeared on notable television shows such as Hullabaloo and The Ed Sullivan Show, performing songs like "Yesterday" by The Beatles. She co-wrote the theme song to The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour with Mason Williams, including the international pop hit "Cinderella Rockefella". Ames later had her own TV show on KPRC-TV Channel 2 from 1972 to 1977 and founded Ward & Ames Special Events in 1982.
