Singer, composer and Music producer, Sylvia Patricia feels comfortable with music, being at the same time a popular music singer with an erudite background: Graduated in Singing at Faculdade Paulista de Arte and post-graduated in Soundtrack for Audiovisual, she also studied Composition and Conducting for two years at the Federal University from Bahia and took free courses in classical guitar, electric guitar, piano, harmonica, Indian classical music and even Flamenco guitar, in Algeciras, hometown of guitarist Paco De Lucía, in Spain. His musical talent also comes from family heritage: on his father's side he belongs to a family of musicians.
With her sensual and deep voice and a unique and very personal style, she was the first singer from Bahia to win the Brazilian Music Award (Premio Sharp de Música), in the Brazilian Pop Music category as upcoming Artist in 1990, one of the most important in Brazil. From then on, she had hits such as "Marca de amor não sai", version of the song Is it ok if I call you mine¨ , which reached the top of several radio stations in Brazil, “Mil Pedaços e Crac”, “Namoradeira”,“ Outro Inverno” released in the United Kingdom and Japan, or “Ilusao” recorded in Rome and released by the Italian label GB Music, which appears in several international compilations and has more than 800,000 streams on Spotify.
Born in Salvador, with indigenous and black blood in her veins - her paternal grandmother was a descendant of the Tapuia Indians and her maternal great-grandfather is an Bahian philologist and Afro-descendant educator, Sylvia Patricia has her talent recognized by several Brazilian artists, such as Caetano Veloso, with whom performs a duet on the song “Cantar¨”, track from his second CD, “Curvas e Retas¨. Her music celebrates the simple things in life, including love in the package, since, even when she talks about pain and separation, the singer bets on a certain irony and the unbearable lightness of words. Stylishly balancing different genres and using the lyrics lightly, the songs come naturally, as if she were having a conversation. A perfectionist, she created a well-structured production team. Today it has a recording studio, Tubo de Ensaio and the label SPeciarias Musicais.
In recent decades, she started from square one to join the team of Brazilian interpreters, with one foot in traditional lyricism and the other in melodic sophistication. And he saw his career take on a new lease of life in 2005, with the song “Não Quero Saber Seu Nome” (Sylvia/Edu Casanova), which, in addition to being widely accepted on Brazilian radio stations, was released in a remix version in Portugal (CD World Trends), by the Portuguese label Difference Music and started a series of shows in Brazilian states (Brasília, São Paulo, Salvador, Rio, Recife, Aracaju, Florianópolis and Curitiba).
In Spain, the country where he began performing in 2004, during a season in the province of Cádiz, when he released his fourth CD, Purpurina 37, in Tarifa, it was so well received by the public and Andalusian newspapers (it was the cover of the culture sections of the newspapers Europa Sur and Diário de Gibraltar) . Since then she performs regularly in Spain, and today accounts for more than 150 performances abroad and has songs on more than 70 foreign compilations. She was nominated and was among the five finalists in the international Best World Music Song awards for the song “Outro Inverno” at the Hollywood Music & Media Awards, in Los Angeles and Brazilian International Press Awards, in Miami, in the category “Shows do Brasil-Singers” .
In 2015 she created the project “This is Samba Rock, Meu Irmão!” where she held workshops on this musical genre, in addition to concerts with the greatest hits of this rhythm and special guests. This project had presentations in Rio, São Paulo and Salvador. The artist has performed for 11 years an acclaimed and free concerto in the street at the popular Yemanjá party, in Salvador. Since 2014 she has created an walkinfg stage, the Tuk Tuk Sonoro: https://www.facebook.com/tuksonoro/, which has been performing at the Bahia Carnival and at events, enchanting the public with its repertoire that mixes rock, Samba Rock, MPB to Carnival songs.
Throughout these years of her career, Sylvia Patricia has released albums in which poetry, harmony and extravagance are the protagonists and is, without a doubt, one of the exponents of the so-called Nova Musica Brasileira (New Brazilian Music).
