Haishen (海神; god of the sea) combine the crushing weight of metal, the heady and fantastical stylings of progressive/post rock, and Chinese mythological and musical influences for a sound that resonates far beyond the shores of the band’s home city of Rochester, New York.

The band’s 2020 self-titled debut EP received positive reviews and radio play both within the US as well in places as far away as Poland and Uzbekistan. In late 2020, Haishen signed to Nashville-based label Needlejuice Records, and released a remixed and remastered version of their EP in April 2021.

After a nineteen-month absence from performing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Haishen came back with a vengeance. They have been regularly gigging since October 2021, including a tour in April 2022. The band are nearing completion of their ambitious first full-length release, and continue seeking to push creative and musical boundaries..
