Chukwuka Ekweani, better known by his stage name CKay, is an Afrobeats, R&B, and pop artist from Kaduna, Nigeria. Influenced by his father, a choir conductor at a local church, he began playing the piano from a very early age and then went on to experiment with music production software. After a brief stint in a band with some of his friends, CKay relocated to the capital city of Lagos in 2014 and joined the roster of the label Chocolate City in 2016. His debut EP, Who the Fuck is CKay?, came out in 2017 and was followed by his breakthrough single “Container,” which was on heavy rotation on Nigerian radio. Further success ensued with the track “Love Nwantiti,” included in his 2019 EP CKay the First. Preceded by the singles “Felony” and “Skoin Skoin” with singer Bianca Costa, his third EP Boyfriend arrived in 2021 via Warner Music South Africa. That same year, a remix of “Love Nwantiti” titled “Love Nwantiti (Ah Ah Ah)” featuring Joeboy and Kuami Eugene shot straight to the top of the European charts, reaching Number 1 in countries like France, the Netherlands, Norway, and Switzerland.
