Vidar Sandbeck, born on July 21, 1918, in Åmot Municipality, Norway, was a folk singer and composer. Despite suffering from poor health during his childhood, Sandbeck showed early talent as a violinist, making his public debut in Stjørdal Municipality in 1941. He initially pursued odd jobs to make ends meet and turned to writing poetry, publishing his first collection in 1954. His creative endeavors expanded to include composing and performing ballads, classical works, and authoring books. Sandbeck released several albums, including Påsans Viser (1981) and Velvalgte Viser (1993). He also authored over 40 books and won numerous awards and commendations. Sandbeck passed away on November 10, 2005, in Åmot Municipality at the age of 87.
