Barratt Waugh, born August 1979 in Swindon, Wiltshire, is a British countertenor who first attracted national attention through appearances on My Kind of People and My Kind of Music hosted by Michael Barrymore, followed by a supporting slot at the Royal Albert Hall for Cliff Richard. In 2000, after signing with Warner Bros. Records' classics subsidiary Erato, he released the album I Love You, Goodbye, a collaboration with Diane Warren, which sold 50 000 copies in Japan, France and the United States; the track "A Time for Us" was later issued in a club version by Atlantic Records. Following a brain surgery in 2002, Waugh began writing his own material and issued the single "Skip a Beat" in June 2003 on his BNW Records label, reaching number 56 on the UK Singles Chart. He toured the UK with acts such as Blue, D‑Side, and Sugababes, and performed at venues including Live & Loud in Hampden Park and Summer Pops in Liverpool.
