Mikoláš Josef, known professionally as Mikolas Josef, was born on 4 October 1995 in Prague. He grew up in a musical family and started playing guitar at the age of five. Mikolas Jose initially pursued modelling, participating in fashion shows and photoshoots for major brands such as Diesel and Prada. However, he left the industry due to disagreements with its practices. His music career began in 2015 with the independent release of his debut single "Hands Bloody". The following year, he released two more singles: "Free" and "Believe (Hey Hey)". He moved to Vienna in 2017 and was approached to represent the Czech Republic in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with "Lie to Me", which won the national selection. The song finished in sixth place, marking the best result for the Czech Republic in Eurovision history.
In April 2018, he signed an international deal with Sony Music and RCA Records. His first release under this label was "Me Gusta". After leaving Sony Music in February 2019, he released "Acapella", which became his first chart-topper in the Czech Republic and was certified gold in Poland. In October 2023, he released "Boys Don't Cry", followed by "Delilah" in June 2024.
