Francisco Canarozzo, known as Francisco Canaro, was born in 1880 or 1888, in San José de Mayo, Uruguay. He began his professional music career in 1908 after moving to Argentina, initially playing in various instrumental trios. In 1916, he formed the Orquesta Canaro-Martínez with pianist José Martínez, which later became part of Roberto Firpo's ensemble. In 1925, Canaro established his own orchestra and introduced the cello to tango music. He composed over 700 pieces, including notable songs like “El Desfile Del Amor” and “Adiós pampa mía”. His Quinteto Pirincho, formed in 1932, significantly contributed to the global spread of tango. Canaro's extensive touring included performances in Europe, America, and Asia. He published his autobiography, Mis bodas de oro con el tango, in 1957. Francisco Canaro passed away in 1964, in Buenos Aires.
