Dmitry Baevsky, born on May 24, 1976 in Leningrad, Russia, is a hard bop jazz saxophonist. He started with piano lessons as a child and later switched to the alto saxophone. In 1991, he enrolled at the Mussorgsky Music College. Throughout the 1990s, Baevsky performed in Russian big bands and festivals. He moved to New York City in 1996 to study at The New School University. His debut album, Introducing Dmitry Baevsky, was released in 2005 on Lineage Records, featuring collaborations with Cedar Walton, Jimmy Cobb, and John Webber. Subsequent albums include Some Other Spring (2009) and Down with It (2010). Since 2018, he has led the Dmitry Baevsky Quartet with Jeb Patton, Joe Strasser, and Neal Miner.
