Christoph Wiegand, professionally known as Weekend, was born on 18 July 1987 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, and began rapping in the early 2000s after being influenced by artists such as Kool Savas and Spontan. His early releases included the Assi EP (2007) and the free album Fans gesucht (2009), which laid the groundwork for his breakthrough at the Videobattleturnier (VBT) in 2011 where he defeated Tamo‑Flage, followed by a victory in the 2012 Splash! edition against BattleBoi Basti, earning him a performance slot at Splash. In 2013 he signed with Chimperator Productions and released the studio album Am Wochenende Rapper on 30 August, preceded by tracks such as "Geheime CD" and "Schatz, du Arschloch". A tour with Persteasy and FiST, titled „Jeden Tag Wochenende“, supported the album. His second studio album, Für immer Wochenende, debuted on 24 April 2015 and reached Number 1 on the German charts, while the third album, Musik Für Die Die Nicht So Gerne Denken, followed later that year. In 2017 the fourth album Keiner Ist Gestorben was issued, and after parting ways with Chimperator in 2020, he released Lightwolf on 11 September 2020, marking a stylistic shift influenced by producer Friedrich VanZandt. Weekend’s career has been noted for its consistent chart presence and his role as a prominent figure in German rap.
