cajupitanga is a project idealized by Candioco and Francisco Viva, located in Vitória da Conquista, Bahia.
With musical affinities and companionship already consolidated by previous projects, Candioco and Viva came together to perform the compositions that emerged from unpretentious rehearsals and cultural meetings around the city. Amidst the fertility of productions, cajupitanga made a series of releases in 2020. The first album of the "Tradição/Tradução" project was released in July 2021, which also marked the beginning of the duo's participation in the historic "Cantores Del Mundo" label, headed by artist and producer Arthus Fochi.
Determined by the countryside trova guitar, added to Brazilian rhythms and electronic modernism, cajupitanga is founded on home production and creative freedom. The experimentalism of production with cell phone and field recordings, point to a lo-fi proposal, while tensioning the Brazilian, Latin and country music traditions in the free mixture of rhythms that are part of the members' lives. There is also a strong influence of ambient music, articulated in the duo's first releases by Conquista's violeira tradition, resignifying the influence of countrymen such as Elomar and Xangai. The genre is worked in different ways in later works and takes another format in the new release, the EP "Ensaios Férteis", as well as the consolidation of the use of samples and digital constructions of the music.
