TikTok and other social media channels have drastically changed the way the audience indulges in music, opening a realm for new and exciting talent to thrive within the industry. Many can argue that virality isn’t always synonymous with talent, but for rapper Young Menace, who caught a lot of attention from his record “Slidin ',” he’s proving that he’s more than ready for the spotlight.
Young Menace, whose birth name is Brian Smith, wasn’t always focused on making music. In fact, he didn’t begin to take the craft seriously until he dropped out of high school in 10th grade and found himself with nothing else to do. After going viral for his record “Slidin’”, he shifted his focal point to creating a dynamic sound. With him already engulfed in the drill lifestyle, his music style mirrors this on tracks like the BounceTooHard-produced “1,2,3,4” that has been gaining a lot of traction from fans.
Young Menace’s goal is simple: blow up and take care of the ones around him. “My next goal is to make sure everyone around me is good,” he explains of his strategy to build his fanbase. He’s already been booked to perform across Atlanta at local clubs and has collaborated closely with other buzzing local artists. Now, he is preparing to release music on a more consistent basis with new tracks dropping every two weeks.
