The Old Dead Tree was a French metal band formed in Paris in February, 1997. The group consisted of Manuel Munoz (vocals, guitar), Nicolas Chevrollier (guitar), Vincent Danhier (bass), and Frédéric Guillemot (drums). Their early work included the self-produced EP The Blossom, released in 1999. Tragedy struck when Guillemot took his own life shortly after. Franck Métayer joined as the new drummer, and the group signed with Season of Mist in 2001.
The Old Dead Tree released their debut album The Nameless Disease in March 2003, a concept album addressing emotions stemming from Guillemot’s death. Their second album, The Perpetual Motion, followed in 2005, showcasing a more rogressive sound. In 2007, they released The Water Fields. Despite these successes, internal tensions led to the group’s dissolution in 2009.
