Aleksandar Marton, known professionally as Sandy Marton, was born on October 4, 1959, in Zagreb, Yugoslavia. He is a singer primarily associated with electronic music and Italo disco genres. Marton's early musical training included studying piano, solfège, and English in the United Kingdom. Marton's breakthrough came in 1984 when he released "People from Ibiza" under his stage name Sandy Marton. The single became a hit in Italian discothèques and topped the Italian charts, establishing him as a popular figure among young audiences. His distinctive look, featuring flowing blonde hair and oversized jackets, further cemented his image. Following this success, Marton released several notable singles including "Camel by Camel" and "Exotic & Erotic". In 1986, he released his debut album Modern Lover, which included the single of the same name that reached seventh place in Italy. His subsequent albums include compilations like Il Meglio (2000), The Very Best of - People from Ibiza (2009), and Greatest Hits (2014). Marton's career saw a decline in the late 1980s as his producer, Claudio Cecchetto, shifted focus to other artists. Despite this, Marton continued to make sporadic appearances in media and music events, notably participating in shows like La notte vola in 2001 and Arena Suzuki in 2021, where he performed "People from Ibiza".
