Mixing overt sexuality with racy pop, Pussycat Dolls were founded in the mid-1990s by choreographer Robin Antin as a modern burlesque dancing troupe. They initially had a fluid line-up with guest singers performing in front of the sexy dancing and gained much publicity with night club residencies in Los Angeles. Carmen Electra was an early member and several of the Dolls appeared in the movie Charlie's Angels and danced in the video of Pink's Trouble. In 2003 Antin reinvented them as a recording group with Nicole Scherzinger, formerly with Popstars winners Eden's Crush, joining the group as lead singer. Their first single Don't Cha from their debut album PCD became a huge hit all over the world and they followed it with further hits, including collaborations with rappers will.i.am and Snoop Dogg. Nicole Scherzinger, the most popular member, subsequently launched a solo career, and other members pursued individual projects, although the band resolved to keep going.
