Ozzy Osbourne

Born on December 3, 1948, in the village of Marston Green (Warwickshire), England, John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne is known as the lead singer of Black Sabbath, and for his extravagance. At the end of 1967, he formed a band with bassist Geezer Butler, which became Black Sabbath in 1969. Now nicknamed Ozzy Osbourne, the singer spent eight years in the saga of the band that invented a new musical genre: heavy metal. Nicknamed "The Madman" himself, Ozzy Osbourne became a legendary rock figure, leaving the band in 1978 after the release of the album Never Say Die! Ozzy Osbourne began his solo career with the acclaimed Blizzard of Oz (1980) and Diary of a Madman (1981). Now based in Los Angeles, California, Ozzy Osbourne indulged in alcohol and drugs. Inevitably, his career suffered, and the quality of his musical output declined throughout the 1980s. Despite this, Ozzy Osbourne's commercial success continued, and in 1991 he revived his image with No More Tears. In 1996, at the instigation of his wife Sharon, he created his own festival, Ozzfest, which contributed to the singer's financial health. In 2001, he and his family became the main characters in a reality TV show called The Osbournes. The same year saw the release of Down to Earth, an album on which he proved that he had lost none of his superb style. Finally reconciled with the other members of the band, from 2011 Ozzy Osbourne takes part in a Black Sabbath reunion, which culminates in 2013 in the album 13. This reunion is concluded by The End tour, announced as the band's farewell tour. In late 2019, the release of the single "Under the Graveyard" preceded that of the album Ordinary Man, released in January 2020. Two years later, Patient Number 9 follows, reaching No. 2 in the UK and No. 3 in the US Billboard 200, proving his continued popularity. The No More Tours II solo tour, previously postponed, is finally cancelled by the singer suffering from back problems. He concentrated on studio work, collaborating twice with guitarist Billy Morrison on the singles "Crack Cocaine" (2024) and "Gods of Rock N Roll" (2025). On July 5, 2025, he reunited with his partners from the original Black Sabbath line-up for a final Back to the Beginning concert at Birmingham's Villa Park. Seventeen days later, on July 22, 2025, Ozzy Osbourne died of Parkinson's disease at the age of 76.
