WINDRUNNER is a Hanoi progressive metalcore band formed in 2015 with 5 members, signed to Famined Records in the U.S.
WINDRUNNER has gained success in the area with their unique sounds combining metalcore with Vietnamese traditional instruments, i.e., Dan Tranh (Vietnamese Zither/Harp), and Sao Truc (Bamboo Flute).
WINDRUNNER is currently one of the most reputable young bands in Vietnam and Asia, receiving attention from the Rock/Metal community in the world.
Since their formation, WINDRUNNER has played various musical events domestically and internationally, from underground metal events to big outdoor festivals, i.e., HOZO Festival (Ho Chi Minh City), Quest Festival (Ba Vi), School Of Mosh Festival (Ha Noi), Hardcore United Festival (Ho Chi Minh City), Soundslam Festival (Ho Chi Minh City), Rock ‘n’ Share Charity Concert (Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang), etc.
WINDRUNNER has also played in various places in Asia, such as South Korea, Taiwan, China, Singapore, Thailand, and has shared the stage with world leading metal band, such as As I Lay Dying, After The Burial, Attila, Secrets, Benighted, Hiss From The Moat, etc.
In March, 2019, WINDRUNNER was the direct support for American band Emmure on their Asian tour.
In 6 years, WINDRUNNER has released 1 full-length album, 2 EPs, and 1 latest single released in November, 2019.
WINDRUNNER’s full-length album “MAI” was released in November, 2018, reached 1 million streams on Spotify, ranked high on many iTunes’ 2018 charts: 16th in American metal, 7th in Australian metal, 2nd in UK metal, 1st in Vietnamese rock.
Single “Rose” from the album “MAI” reached over 300 thousand views on Youtube, other singles including “Orchid” and “Sakura” reached over 200 thousand views on Youtube.
EP “SEN”, released in August, 2019, reached more than 1 million streams on Spotify, standing in top 100 in iTunes’ metal chart during its first month.
WINDRUNNER has appeared on many papers, big Vietnamese media channels like BBC Viet Nam, Tuoi Tre News, Hoa Hoc Tro, VNexpress, VTV6, and appeared live on VTC3 and FPT Play. In the world, WINDRUNNER is also featured on renowned channels, such as Alternative Press, Metal Injection, Gear Gods, Metal Trences (American); Finite (Philippino), etc.
