Influenced by Bobby Timmons, Ray Charles, and Les McCann, Mion's style blends jazz, soul jazz, and funky music. He formed the jazz-funk group Cortex in 1974, releasing notable albums such as Troupeau Bleu and Volume 2. In 1982, he began a solo career with releases like "Pheno-Men" and "Alain Mion In New York," recorded with David Binney and Marc Johnson. His work has been sampled by numerous hip-hop artists and featured on prominent radio stations. Mion's collaborations include performances with Alain Mion FunKey Combo and Alain Mion & The New Cortex, with notable concerts at venues like the New Morning in Paris. In 2012, he released Let's Groove with Trad Vibe Records.
