Backflow is a rock band from Latvia formed in 2007 by members of Mary Jane, which was a well-known entity in Latvian alternative/underground scene. During its life time Mary Jane has compiled a long list of awards and was frequently called "one of the best live acts in Latvia".
Backflow has continued musical traditions of their previous band and during the first year of its existence Backflow has earned title of "Best New Band" on Latvian Radio SWH and also got the first place at the "Coca Cola Discovery Tour" contest which sent the band to play Coke Live Festival in Krakow, Poland.
Backflow band released its first album "Love & Peace" in 2008, which in cooperation with MTV Baltics was made available for a free download in all 3 Baltic countries and made Backflow the first band in Baltics to do so. Warmly greeted by fans and media band continued touring Baltics for 2 years and took part in all major Latvian and Lithuanian festivals.
In 2010 Backflow band entered the studio again in order to lay down basic tracks for a next album. Later on in 2011 work on new material continued in band's private studio, but it didn't come to fruition due to different issues and unfortunate coincidences.
Following the hiatus Backflow band has gradually withdrawn from the active concert life, but decided to come back to the unfinished material 4 years later in order to deliver it to the listeners. Songs' arrangements, vocal parts, missing guitars and percussion overdubs have been recorded, which have resulted in a new album - Permanent Issues.
