Tomás Novoa is a Chilean composer and musician who works with new musical forms through dreamlike narratives. With a musical proposal that guides us through conflicting emotional experiences, he opens up a space to reveal their intrinsic beauty through introspection.
The focus of his current sound research is to approach musical practice as a challenge aimed at seeking new aesthetic paths. To achieve this, he focuses on the creative use of technology and innovative sound design techniques, exploring states of trance and contemplation. His most recent work, titled "Desviós" reflects this pursuit through five pieces incorporating strident passages and hypnotic sequences.
Novoa's avant-garde musical style has allowed him to be part of various audiovisual projects, including campaigns for brands such as Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Ferrari, GQ Magazine, and Berlin Tech Open Air, one of Europe's most prominent technology festivals. Additionally, his latest work was included in the "In Perspective" installation during the Bright Pulse festival held in Leipzig, Germany. Most recently, he performed at the latest edition of the Berlinale Film Festival in February 2024.
Tomás Novoa holds a master's degree in electroacoustic composition from the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) in Barcelona, as well as a degree in Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Currently, he is pursuing a second master's degree in Sound Art at the University of Barcelona (UB).
