Niklas Liepe, born on 2 March 1990 in Göttingen, Germany, is a classical violinist. He began his musical education at twelve at the Institute for the Early Development of Musically Gifted Students at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover (HMTM), studying under Krzysztof Węgrzyn. He later studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln with Zakhar Bron and Mihaela Martin, and at the Kronberg Academy with Ana Chumachenco, also focusing on chamber music with Oliver Wille at HMTM Hannover. Liepe has won awards including the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb, the "New Talent Competition" of the European Broadcasting Union, and prizes at the Henryk Wieniawski International Violin Competition and Kocian International Violin Competition. He has performed with orchestras such as the Frankfurter Opern- und Museumsorchester, Slowakisches Radio-Sinfonieorchester Bratislava, and Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern, collaborating with conductors including Christoph Eschenbach. His discography includes Impresiones Espanolas (2014), The New Paganini Project (2018), GoldbergReflections (2020), and Tipping Points / The New Four Seasons (2024). In 2021, he won an Opus Klassik in the category “Videoclip des Jahres” for the variation GoldBergHain over Bach’s Quodlibet.
