Yamboo, a German pop group formed in 1999, originally consisted of three members and later included Silvie Prvu, Gisele, Michelle, and Medi. The group's initial lineup featured Silvie Prvu, who had background experience as a legal assistant, ballet dancer, and background singer for artists like Oli.P., and Gisele, a Belgian model, dancer, and background singer of Ugandan and Cape Verdean descent. Their breakthrough came with the 1999 single "Fiesta de la noche", which reached Number 20 in Germany, Number 30 in Austria, and Number 50 in Switzerland. Following this success, Yamboo released several singles, including "Come With Me (Bailamos)", "Torero (Aya Baila)", "Kalinka", and "Pata Pata", which achieved moderate chart positions. In 2001, the group presented their single "Kalinka" in Berlin, marking their last release as a trio before transitioning to a duo. After a three-year hiatus following the release of "Star" in 2002, Yamboo returned with new collaborations and releases such as "Sing Hallelujah", featuring Dr. Alban, and "Mapouka", supported by The Real Mapouka Dancers. In 2006, they released their debut album Okama de Mapouka, which included all nine of their previous singles along with the single "Oh Suzanna". After another hiatus, Yamboo returned in 2009 with new members Michelle and Medi replacing Silvie Prvu and Gisele on stage. They released the single "Discotheque" that year. The group's activities ceased after 2009.
