Gianni Celeste is an Italian singer-songwriter born Giovanni Grasso on June 24, 1964, in Catania. Inspired by Mario Trevi and Nino D'Angelo, he debuted in 1985 with the album Ricordo d'estate, which sold over 50,000 copies while he was working as a mechanic. Following this success, he dedicated himself to music and released Il mio cammino in 1986. By 1987, Celeste topped the sales charts for Neapolitan LPs and achieved international recognition with L'amante, which sold one hundred thousand copies. He made his acting debut in the 1992 film Vite perdute, directed by Giorgio Castellani. Celeste has maintained a prolific career with over 60 studio albums, including Poesie and Favole.
