Gangway is a Danish pop band formed in 1982 in Copenhagen. The ensemble originally consisted of Allan Jensen, Henrik Balling, and Torben Johansen. The group released its debut studio album, The Twist, in 1984. The 1986 follow-up, Sitting in the Park, included the track “My Girl and Me”, which appeared on MTV. In 1988, the band released the album Sitting in the Park Again. Gangway transitioned toward a synthpop sound on The Quiet Boy Ate the Whole Cake (1991) and subsequently released Happy Ever After (1992), Optimism (1994), and That's Life (1996). The group became inactive in 1998 following the compilation Compendium. After resuming activity in 2017, the ensemble performed a reunion tour and released the single “Colourful Combinations” in 2018. The band released the studio album Whatever It Is in 2019, its first recording of new material in 23 years.
