Maria del Mar Bonet i Verdaguer is a Spanish singer-songwriter born on April 27, 1947, in Palma de Mallorca. She studied ceramics before moving to Barcelona in 1967, where she joined the group Els Setze Jutges and the Nova Cançó movement. Her repertoire included the recording “Què volen aquesta gent?”, co-written with Lluis Serrahima, and a version of “L'àguila negra”, which received a gold disc in Spain in 1971. Bonet released her debut studio recording Maria del Mar Bonet in 1970. She collaborated with artists such as Manel Camp and Miquel Àngel Riera. Her awards included the Medalla de Honor del Parlamento de Cataluña in 2007 and the Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes in 2011. Her discography included the live recording A l'Olympia. 50 anys (2025) and the studio recording L'aigua no cansa (2026).
