Turntablerocker was formed in 1994 in Stuttgart, Germany, by Michael “Michi” Beck of Die Fantastischen Vier and Thomas “Thomilla” Burchia, both DJs and producers; Beck handled rapping and front‑stage duties while Burchia focused on production and DJing. Their first significant release was the single "No Melody" in 2001, followed by the album Classic the same year, which entered the German Top 100 at Number 17 and remained on the chart for eight weeks; the project showcased a funk‑ and house‑infused hip‑hop sound that distinguished them from contemporary club music. In 2002 they issued Smile, an album that shifted toward more electronic arrangements and featured singles such as "A Little Funk" and "Time For Music"; the duo also produced remixes for artists including Bob Sinclar and Gwen Stefani. A notable single, "Compost Black Label #35", appeared in 2008, maintaining their presence in the club scene. In 2012 they released their third studio album einszwei, preceded by the singles "Von Vorn" and "Alles auf die 303"; the album was supported by a club tour across Europe. Throughout their career Turntablerocker contributed to the evolution of German club culture by integrating hip‑hop with electro, house, and funk, and their work has been featured in international releases in Japan, Canada, Mexico, and Australia. Their discography remains influential in the electronic and hip‑hop communities, and they continue to be recognized for pioneering a “wild‑style” DJ approach.
