Oluis, 1997, rapper, beatmaker, sound designer, cyberpunk.
Coming from Reunion Island and having lived all over France, Oluis grew up reading classic literature and watching anime, which inspired their unique music that explores societal issues and personal themes such as loneliness and mental health.
After a five-year break to focus on their studies, Oluis returned to music at the age of 19, influenced by albums from Daft Punk and freestyles from Orelsan, Nekfeu, and other conscious rap artists. With their unique writing style, nerd culture, and provocative personality, they have become a queer and feminist icon, bringing a fresh and rebellious style to French rap.
Oluis loves taking their listeners on sonic and visual adventures, using modern symbols to raise awareness of the world around us.
Always exploring weird moods through sounds, they released a first EP called Temporary Introspection (2020) which is deep, broody and edgy. Inspired by Lena Raine (Singularity), Billie Eilish, and C418, and willing to make noise as art, they linked different art mediums, paintings as books, to sounds in order to create a universe and a mood that can be observed from many points of view.
In 2021 after the pandemic, to express their feeling of freedom, reconnect with people, and make loud music on the dancefloor, Oluis produced their first album Popsicle. A mix of 80s synthwave and disco to make everyone groove during hot summer nights.
In 2023, Oluis added a new opus to their already extensive discography. Titled 1ERJET, this mixtape is a true condensation of their artistic universe: a mix of rap, electronic music, cyberpunk sounds, and socially conscious lyrics. Featuring high-quality collaborations such as Endi Drogo, BscR, Alexandre Roth, and Diejo, this album is a true sonic experience to discover.
