Eduardo López Banzo, born on December 13, 1961 in Zaragoza, Spain, is a harpsichordist and conductor. He began his musical education at an early age in Zaragoza, studying with organist and harpsichordist José Luis González Uriol. López Banzo later moved to the Netherlands, where he studied harpsichord and organ under Gustav Leonhardt and Jacques van Oortmersen at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. López Banzo's career took off as a soloist and director, performing extensively across Spain and internationally in countries such as Belgium, Poland, Austria, Germany, Portugal, Italy, France, and the United States. He has directed notable orchestras, including the Madrid Symphony Orchestra and specialized ensembles like the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra of San Francisco. In 1988, he founded Al Ayre Español, a pioneering group in historically informed performance of Baroque music, which received the Spanish National Music Prize in 2004.
