Couchboy is the working title for music recorded and released by songwriter David MacDonald.
Originally from Amherst MA, stomping grounds for bands including Dinosaur Jr., Pixies, and Sebadoh, David relocated to Chapel Hill NC performing in clubs and festivals throughout the East Coast (including NXNE, CBGB’s, Mercury Lounge, etc.). The band moved to New York to explore a recording production deal and became primarily a live band playing shows regularly around the city,(at one point even recording music for Nickelodian TV!).
The music is acoustic driven, pop-infused alt/indie rock with undertones of country and punk—that’s a mouthfull! But there are a lot of influences in there---it really just comes down to the song.

David left NYC and is currently writing and recording new music at his home studio in Western Massachusetts. He writes, sings, plays guitar, bass, and drums. (Summer 2021).
