Joanne Robertson is a Glasgow-based musician, painter, and poet known for her ethereal, lo-fi folk music and experimental collaborations. Born in Blackpool, UK, in 1979, she moved to Glasgow in 2018 after living in London. Her work is characterized by improvisatory expression, blending dreamy vocals, reverberating guitar, and minimalist production. Robertson has collaborated with artists such as Dean Blunt, Mica Levi, Oliver Coates, and Sidsel Meineche Hansen, contributing to projects like Black Metal 2 and Alien Baby 0 Rules For Life. Her solo albums include The Lighter (2008), Black Moon Days (2015), Wildflower (2016), and Blurrr (2025), released on Blunt’s World Music label. They recorded together albums Walhalla (2017), and Backstage Raver (2024). In addition to her music, Robertson is a visual artist with exhibitions at venues like Tate St. Ives and the ICA London. Her work often blurs the lines between sound and image, creating immersive, atmospheric experiences.
