People's Choice

The People's Choice is an American funk band formed in 1971 in Philadelphia, United States of America. The group was founded by Frank Brunson and David Thompson. Their debut single "I Likes To Do It" was released on Phil-L.A. of Soul Records in 1971, reaching number 9 on the U.S. Billboard R&B chart and number 38 on the Billboard Hot 100. Leon Huff saw People's Choice in concert and signed them to Philadelphia International Records in 1974. Their subsequent single "Do It Any Way You Wanna" became a Philly dance classic, selling over a million copies in three months and earning a gold disc from the R.I.A.A. in November 1975. This song was featured in Fred Williamson's 1976 film Death Journey. The band released their debut album Boogie Down U.s.a. in 1975, followed by We Got The Rhythm in 1976. Other notable singles include "Nursery Rhymes (Part I)" and "Jam, Jam, Jam (All Night Long)". Frank Brunson passed away on November 24, 2007, after a long illness.
