Dave Jones, born 20 December , 1969 in England, is best known by his stage name Zed Bias and works as a DJ and producer in electronic music, particularly UK garage, 2‑step, broken beat, and UK funky. Early work in Milton Keynes saw him collaborating with local DJs and releasing tracks on his own Sidewinder/Sidestepper and Biasonic labels, including the early single "Standard Hoodlum Issue" with DJ Spatts. His breakthrough came with the single "Neighbourhood" (2000) which peaked at number 25 on the UK charts and generated a strong underground following, establishing him as a key figure in the nascent dubstep scene. In 2001 he adopted the alias Maddslinky, releasing the album Make Your Peace (2003) and later Make a Change (2010), while also forming the production duo Phuturistix and contributing to releases such as Breathe Some Light (2007). Zed Bias continued to release material under his own name, including the EP Neighbourhood (2000), the albums Fairplay / Phoneline (2011), Biasonic Hotsauce – Birth Of The Nanocloud (2011), Night Lovers (2011), and Shizam (2014), and the single "Heavy Water Riddim" (2012). His work has consistently charted within the UK Dance and Indie listings, and his influence is cited as foundational to the development of dubstep as a distinct genre.
