Voodoo Queens, an English indie punk/riot grrrl band from North London, was formed in 1992 by Anjali Bhatia (guitar, vocals), Ella Guru (guitar, backing vocals), Stefania 'Steffi' Lucchesini (drums), Rajni Bhatia (keyboards) and Anjula Bhaskar (bass). The band's breakthrough came with a Peel session offered by BBC DJ John Peel after only one concert. Their debut EP Kenuwee Head was released in June 1993, followed by their first album Chocolate Revenge in January 1994. Notable songs include "You're Dumped" and "Princess of the Voodoo Beat". The band reached Number 1 in the UK Indie Chart in 1993 with their single "Supermodel Superficial"/"Chocolate (Melt in Your Mouth)". Following the dissolution of the band, members pursued various solo projects.
