Mamá, a Spanish pop group formed in 1979, emerged during the early 1980s and was heavily influenced by new wave bands. The group released their first EP, Chicas de colegio, in 1980, followed by their debut album, El último bar, in 1981. Their breakthrough came with the hit single "Chicas de colegio," one of the most representative songs of the era. Mamá's second album, Mamá, was released in 1982. The group disbanded in 1983 but reunited in the 1990s for several concerts and releases, including the compilation album Grandes Éxitos (1996) and a live album, Nada Más (1997). Mamá reinvigorated their career in 2009 with the release of La mejor canción, followed by several other albums: Sólo por hoy (2011), Sin Crédito (2013), and Estándar (2015). Their most recent album, Toque de queda was released in 2017.
