Rotten Sound is a Finnish grindcore band from Vaasa, formed in 1993 by guitarist Mika Aalto. The group began their musical journey with underground releases including Sick Bastard(1995) and Psychotic Veterinarian (1995), followed by their first full-length album, Under Pressure, released through Repulse Records in 1997. In the early 2000s, Rotten Sound continued to build their reputation with albums like Murderworks (2002) and Exit (2005). The latter peaked at number 22 on the Finnish album charts.Throughout their career, Rotten Sound has been known for intense live performances and extensive touring. In early 2006, they embarked on the Grind Your Face Off Tour supporting the reissue of Murderworks. The band's fifth studio album, Cycles, was released in 2008 via Spinefarm Records. In November 2009, Rotten Sound signed with Relapse Records and released Cursed in 2011. In the years that followed, Rotten Sound continued to evolve their sound, releasing albums such as Abuse to Suffer (2016) via Season of Mist. Their eighth album, Apocalypse, was released in 2023. The band's lineup has included vocalist Keijo Niinimaa and various members including guitarist Mika Aalto and bassist Matti Raappana.
