Trio Da Kali is a Malian griot group composed of three members: Hawa Kassé Mady Diabaté, Lassana Diabaté, and Mamadou Kouyaté. Hawa is the daughter of griot Kassé Mady Diabaté, who is the son of ngoni master Bassekou Kouyaté. The trio's name, Da Kali, translates to "give a pledge," reflecting their commitment to their musical heritage, which traces back to the Mandé jeli lineages of Sunjata Keita, founder of the Mali Empire in the 13th century. Their breakthrough came with the collaboration and subsequent album Ladilikan (2017) with the American string quartet Kronos Quartet. The album features arrangements of two songs by Mahalia Jackson as well as traditional Mandé jeli repertoire such as "Sunjata" and "Tita". The group has performed extensively worldwide, including tours with Kronos Quartet. Their song "Demba de Tsha" (feat. Trio Da Kali) was included in the soundtrack for FIFA 22.
