Music project of singer/songwriter Jeff Fettes, Riotron is an indie pop-rock band from Winnipeg, Canada. The name is derived from the hit song Rio by Duran Duran and the 1982 fantasy sci-fi film, Tron. Riotron draws heavily on the ‘80s-influenced new wave movement, mixed in with EDM, Electronica, dance-rock and even some jazz.
Fettes wrote their upcoming EP, Dark Highway as a sort of 80’s movie soundtrack, with 6 highly personal songs covering everything from addiction to metaphysical love. The lead single “I’m Sorry”, released in Sept 2019, was inspired by politics and the sharp emotional divide it created among his friends and family.
Riotron hopes to empower individuals to make their dreams and passions into reality. Their EP is about the transformation out of dark spaces and coming into the light. It is meant for anyone who has lived through mistakes that eventually inspired them to a stronger, more honest place. Each song is bonded by the human experience of trying to become better. Riotron’s Dark Highway sends its listener on a metaphorical drive through hell that eventually leads to love, acceptance and then self-forgiveness.
