Yeah, what do whoiswelanski want to hear anyway? Electro- or Synth-Pop, New Wave, Indie, experimental anyway and in the case of their single "Was ich will hören will“/„What i want to hear", which was released on July 24th, a pinch of Psych Rock in the daydream of Ariel Pink or Tame Impala's older records... So there's plenty of time for a short break - fine!
"Was ich will hören will" lives from instrumental and linguistic gimmicks, breaks, conflicts, whereby the delicately used voice of the singer Josef fits into the rousing guitar and synth arrangement like an almost resigned statement: "I only hear what I want to hear, I only see what I already know", whoiswelanski thematize the everyday routine, which is reinforced by the use of new media and which one seems to find difficult to escape. The lyrically described filter bubble changes and gives way in places to a musical one, which is so gigantic that the soberly seen rather banal lines are enormously driven up. With the exception of the middle section - characterized by screaming guitars - listening to "What I want to hear" one revels in a timeless and spaceless environment, somewhere in the middle of nowhere. For years, the two long-time friends have been experimenting with different styles together, mainly as instrumentalists. They spend hours and days in a cellar in a small Upper Bavarian town called Miesbach, writing songs, playing everything themselves and tinkering with it until the music becomes a whole.
The result will be presented by whoiswelanski in form of their debut album "TALK" on September 18th, 2020! Until then, there are still two long months to go and so whoiswelanski will release a "T"-"A"-"L"-"K" release series - consisting of four songs and videos, which tell a self-contained story - to sweeten the waiting time a bit.
