New York native, Moist Briefs is a producer, DJ, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. The name came about during a heated discussion amongst friends and family where it was said that people find the word “moist” uncomfortable. Playing around with the word “moist” it later became an on running joke for the artist to incorporate it in his stage name. Growing up in a musically inclined household he was introduced to music production by his father at the age of 11 and from then on music has been a source of storytelling soundtracking the experiences throughout his life. With hip hop, rnb, jazz funk/soul, new Jack swing, and gospel being a part of his upbringing it was through video games where he got a glimpse of electronic music and left field genres. This only made him more curious to explore the music he was unfamiliar to and in junior high is where he got a full dose of the many forms of electronic and dance music with his circle of friends through YouTube and limewire. During this time the dj scene he was familiar with from hip hop all changed when he discovered electronic music and became fascinated with the art of Djing. This interest inspired his taste of tracks he chooses for mixes and taking the listener through a journey of sound and emotion that bends genres all the while sounding cohesive. With this moist briefs has had the chance of Djing some of New York’s underground nightclubs and radio shows (such as Mood Ring, The Lot Radio, Rash, Jupiter Disco, and Half Moon BK). his catalog takes many steps into different soundscapes from the likes of but not limited to the Neptunes, Madlib, jam & Lewis, Marcos Valle, Todd edwards, Alan Hawkshaw, Mr. Oizo and Paul Johnson.
