Jennifer Vera Brown, born on February 18, 1972, in Hjällbo, northeast of Gothenburg, Sweden, is a Swedish singer. Raised by a Trinidadian father and a Swedish mother, Brown began her performing career at a young age, singing, dancing, and acting at a local recreation center. At fifteen, she studied at a music school in Hisingen and performed as part of the group Soul Miracle. Brown relocated to Stockholm in 1994 to pursue a musical career, initially working at a bar before securing employment at Swedish record label Telegram Records. Her debut album Giving You The Best, released on August 1, 1994, peaked at Number 1 on the Swedish charts and remained there for 22 weeks. Subsequent albums included In My Garden (1997), which reached number 9, and Vera (1999), peaking at number 8. Her single "Tuesday Afternoon" from 1998 achieved global success, charting in multiple countries including Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, and the UK. Brown's work is also recognized internationally through Paul van Dyk’s cover of her song "Alive," retitled "We Are Alive", which became a European hit in 2000. Following the release of her fourth album Home (2003), Brown largely retired from the music business but returned for various projects including acting roles and musical performances.
