Up until now, Tod Lippy has been best-known as the creator of the award-winning arts journal ESOPUS (called “a thing of lavish, eccentric beauty” by The New York Times). Every issue of ESOPUS included a CD of new music he commissioned from musical acts such as Grizzly Bear, Dirty Projectors, Neko Case, and Kimya Dawson, and it was Lippy’s interaction with these musicians that inspired him to create music of his own. In 2019, he recorded and mixed his first album, "Here We Are, " in New York City with legendary producer Kramer (Galaxie 500, Low). In Kramer’s words, Tod’s songs are “essential to any listener craving the raw conveyance of real experience and real life. They’re unforgettable songs about unforgettable moments—memory born through music.” "Here We Are"s first single, “Good Start,” was chosen by influential LA-based radio station KCRW as one of its coveted “Today’s Top Tunes" slots in September 2019. Tod worked again with Kramer on his second album, "Yearbook" (2021) whose first single, "Names," was also released as a limited-edition 7" vinyl by Toronto-based label We Are Busy Bodies in December 2020. Lippy's forthcoming 6-song EP, "Midterms," will be out this summer; its lead single, "Assorted Hits 11," dropped on April 22, 2022.
