ngolf: from Berlin, Germany. Music producer, songwriter and singer.
Ingolf has been working as a producer and composer for over 25 years. In the 90s Ingolf had his first releases on techno compilation and produced some artists on his own label. In the early 2000s, he exclusively wrote music for television productions. At the same time, he and his partner at the time founded a company that specialised in building studio equipment and custom-made products for artists and music studios as well as radio and television stations. Due to personal circumstances, he left his company to focus on what was important to him in the future. In 2020, he ended his musical hiatus and began work on his own album, which will be released in March 2023. The album was created in collaboration with musicians Greg Bone, Darrin Mooney and Joseph Dworniak. A special feature of this album is perhaps that, due to the lockdown, the artists could only communicate via Zoom and send each other the audio files via data exchange. Ingolf's original idea was to produce an album that combined the influences of his youth, i.e. the 80s, with the sounds and possibilities of producing music in today's world. In other words, to largely dispense with real musical instruments and give priority to synthesizers. This changed after Greg Bone became part of the studio project, the songs became a bit rockier with Greg's guitar tracks. After Darrin Mooney joined as drummer, it became clear that the album would take a different direction. The sound became more organic and lively through the collaboration with the two artists, but also enough space was given to the synthesizers. Ingolf's distinctive voice and the catchy melodies and hooklines make the album a pop album with hit character. Joseph Dworniak then balanced all the songs with his wonderful mixing work and gave the album its special sound. The songs on the album deal with some biographical aspects of Ingolf but also social issues.
