Jocelyn Mackenzie is a Brooklyn-based singer, songwriter, percussionist, songwriting coach, artist, and stylist. She is currently producing her first full-length solo album PUSH, written for string quartet, voice, and synth percussion about healing through radical self love. Her team of collaborators on this project include Sam McCormally, Emily Hope Price, Franz Nicolay, Adam Schatz, Jo Lampert, Barrie Lobo McClain, and more.
Best known as the singing drummer from indie-pop trio Pearl and the Beard (2007-2015), Mackenzie and bandmates Emily Hope Price and Jeremy Lloyd-Styles created a unique, infectious blend of folk pop music infused with luscious harmonies and deep joy. The band released six albums and has an extensive touring history across the US, UK and Canada with such noteworthy artists as Ani DiFranco, Neko Case, Bastille, Iron & Wine, Ingrid Michaelson, Lucius, Dar Williams, Lady Lamb, David Wax Museum, and Sharon Van Etten. Jocelyn's first solo album, the "Unlovely EP" was released in 2016 via Consequence of Sound and features a track co-written by Ani DiFranco. Her music has appeared in film and television, and she has also written music for theater and has been blossoming as a theatrical performer and devisor.
