José Rodríguez Vázquez, known professionally as José El Francés, was born on November 14, 1971, in Montpellier, France. He is a French musician who raised in a gypsy family with roots in flamenco music. He moved to Madrid at age 14. His breakthrough came when his compositions were recorded by Camarón de la Isla for the album Potro de rabia y miel. In 1992, José El Francés released his debut album, Las Calles De San Blas, under the guidance of Pepe de Lucía. He continued with albums like Somos Perfectos (1995) and Alma (1999), which sold over 300,000 copies and won the Premio Amigo for Best Flamenco Album. The album included the hit single "Ya no quiero tu querer", reaching Number 1 on Los 40 Principales. José El Francés has continued his career with albums like Jugando Al Amor (2002) and Agua De Esperanza (2004).
