Founded in 1995, Naif is an Indonesian rock band formed by Franki Indrasmoro Sumbodo (drums), David Bayu Danangjaya (vocals), Fajar Endra Taruna Mangkudisastro (guitar), and Shendy (keyboard). Upon graduating from Jakarta Art Institute, they wrote their first song, "Jauh" ("Far") in 1995, however the band’s line up changed shortly after, with Shendy replaced by Chandra Sukardi and Mohammad Amil Hussein joining on bass guitar. Their debut self-titled album in 1998 garnered little commercial success, however in 2000, the band released critically acclaimed Jangan Terlalu Naif (Don't Be Too Naive) followed by popular Titik Cerah (A Point of Clarity) in 2002. After Sukardi’s departure in 2003, Naif collaborated with Indonesian pop singer Chrisye on her hit single "Tjah Ayoe" ("Beautiful Face") before releasing four albums between 2005 and 2008: Retropolis (2005), Televisi (2007) and Let’s Go! (2008) as well as children’s music album Di Rimba Hijau Kemilau (In the Shining Green Jungle), contributing several songs to the Ruma Maida (film) soundtrack in 2009. After an extended hiatus, Naif recorded their eighth album 7 Bidadari (7 Angels) (2017) disbanding in 2021 after a 25-year career.
