Leendert "Leen" Huijzer, known professionally as Lee Towers, was born in 1946 in the Netherlands. He began his career as a dockworker in Rotterdam before being discovered in 1975 by Willem Duys, who introduced him as "The Singing Crane Mechanic." His first single, "Louisa", was released under the name Leen Huizer. In 1976, Towers' breakthrough came with the release of his biggest hit, "You'll Never Walk Alone". He gained significant recognition for his theatrical performances at Rotterdam Ahoy, where he set a record for the most concerts by a single artist at the venue. Notable albums include Live at Ahoy (1987). Towers has also been involved in film, appearing in Sinterklaas and the Danger in the Valley (2003), and television, participating in shows like Best Singers. He received numerous awards, including the Erasmus pin in 1990 and the Edison Oeuvre Prize in 2017.
