The band starts with Hugo Cabezas and his attraction to occultism for the paranormal incidents he experienced throughout his life. He decides to create songs to challenge the system and the conservative groups from Ecuador, but also to experiment with different genres like electro-rock and synth-pop instead of rock and blues, which he used to play with his other band.
Hugo felt this project started a new point in his life, so he gave it a name that felt close to him. He uses his high school nickname “Cráneos” (Skulls) and adopted it into his adult life giving him the colonial treatment of "Don." (Sir)
In 2019, the production of his first EP “Necrópolis” begins as a solo project. The album was released in July 2019 with six songs on different digital platforms worldwide such as Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer, and YouTube.
For the official launch, the solo project was transformed into a band adding two new members, Christian Arias on the drums, and Leonardo Bermúdez on the bass. Hugo stays on the guitar and the vocals. In September 2019, “Don Cráneos'” had their first concert for the launch of “Dama Solita” at the National Theater of the House of Ecuadorian Culture.
After a while, Leonardo decides to take a different path from the band. “Don Cráneos” decides to continue working on their paranormal music with their team.
In 2020, the band released their new single "El Caníbal" (The Cannibal) for their first anniversary and to celebrate Halloween with all the mortals. The band also performed on several international digital music festivals such as “3er Festival Under Latinoamericano”, and “Electro Freak Show 2020”.
“Don Cráneos” is currently working on their new album, where they are experimenting with new vintage analog sounds and their electronic essence.
