shan Cyapital is a reggae and dancehall artist, singer, songwriter actor and model from Malawi. He was born on October 30, 1992 in Balaka township in the southern region of Malawi to parents Ishmael and Shamim Jussab. The youngest of five, two sisters and two brothers, Ishans strongest musical influences are from his older brothers Teebz and Jeelz and his uncle Tackie T. Twin brothers Taleeb and Jaleel Jussab formed a dancehall duo (Teebz & Jeelz) in 2004 paving way for Ishans solo career in 2007 with his first track Tick-tock produced by Malawian\Scottish producer and relative Sean Loc.
His uncle Tackie T is one of the earliest ragga music pioneers in Malawi, he was active in the 90s with a few hit songs that enjoyed air play on Malawian radios. Ishan has always been an entertainer from a young age, he used to disk jockey at family gatherings and perform at school talent shows especially during his secondary school days. His first recorded song was with well-known Music producer and relative Sean Loc. Rapper and producer Sean Loc played a major role in Ishan’s mentorship as they collaborated on multiple songs including “Paranoid” which featured renowned Rnb Singer and Songwriter Theo Thompson in 2009.
Ishan went on to perform at the 2010 Lake of Stars Festival a month before his 18th birthday being one of the youngest artists to adorn the stage at Malawis most prestigious event. Ishan and his brothers formed “Di Elite”, a group consisting of the trios fusion of unique voices and delivery styles. “Di Elite” is now also a 360 Media Company headed by Ishan with the help of Teebz and Jeelz.
Ishans acting career took off after playing the role of “Jones” in Malawian local soapie “Issues 265”. The eight episode series features “Jones”, a rich playboy out to break womens hearts, with other renowned Malawian actors like Edwin Chonde and award winning actress and director Brenda Nselu. Ishan has also played a role of a Kidnapper in Unicefs Anansi TV Series directed by Award Winning Malawian Actress and Director Flora Suya in 2020.
