Elia y Elizabeth were a Colombian pop duo formed by sisters Elia and Elizabeth Fleta, active during the early 1970s and known for blending romantic ballads with tropical rhythms, soft psychedelia, and Latin American folk. Originally from Bogotá but raised partly in Spain, the sisters began writing and performing songs influenced by international pop and chanson. Their debut album, Elia y Elizabeth, was released in 1972 under the Codiscos label and included standout tracks like “Todo en la Vida,” “Fue una lágrima,” and "Soy una Nube." That same year, they followed up with Alegría, which featured the title track, "Buscándonos," and "Cae la Lluvia." Their sound, often backed by arranger Jimmy Salcedo and his Onda Tres ensemble, stood out for its dreamy textures, soft harmonies, and poetic lyrics that explored love, melancholy, and introspection. Despite their short recording career, which ended in 1973 due to Elia’s health issues, their music gained renewed attention decades later thanks to reissues by labels like Vampisoul. This revival introduced their work to new generations and solidified their status as cult icons of Latin American pop music.
