Lusitanian Ghosts is a rock n roll artist collective featuring Portuguese traditional cordophone guitars, with Neil Leyton, Micke Ghost, João Sousa, Omiri, O Gajo, Abel Beja of Primitive Reason, ToZé Bexiga, Janne Olsson and other artists. It is a musical project that mixes indie songwriting with traditional Portuguese instruments, the violas Beiroa, Campaniça, Braguesa, Terceirense and Amarantina chordophones. Along with the debut album the collective released a documentary film that also interviews several cordophone experts who explain why most of these portuguese ancient instruments became forgotten - almost extinct - over time. They are the Lusitanian Ghosts.
Their debut album as well as the Original Sound Track to the Lusitanian Ghosts documentary feature were released in 2019.
In 2020, the artist collective unveiled a brand new single and video, "All the Sounds", first track off their sophomore album "Exotic Quixotic" second album. Their third album, "Lusitanian Ghosts III", was recorded and mixed on analogue tapes at Clouds Hill studio in Hamburg and was released in September 2023 following the new singles "The Long Train", "Shameless", and "Got Enough".
For 2025, a new single "All You Wanted" will be unveiled as well as a compilation album for the North-American market, "Chordophone Rock n Roll", ahead of the Ghosts' performance at Folk Alliance Festival in Montreal.
In July 2025, Lusitanian Ghosts will perform a very special concert with the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra, directed by maestro Rui Ribeiro.
